Custom Design Work
From time to time I do custom
ASP design work.
Here are my policies on this.
I need detailed info on what you need.
I will review your request and provide a basic quote and also whether or
not I would be interested in doing the job and/or have time to.
Depending on the situation I may require half of the payment down before I
begin the project. All payments must be made via my PayPal
account. There are usually no exceptions to this unless of course you
make me some sort of offer I can't refuse or this is some sort of high
dollar project and P.O.'s are involved, etc etc.
I will design the code you request and put it live on my web server for
you to evaluate and test. The lines of communication between you and I
must be strong. I prefer to keep the communication via email for privacy
reasons, however depending on the
situation I may do phone conversations. I simply don't
need 100 people calling me everyday because they know my phone number. Now
that being said, if you are paying me 75+/hour for serious work you can
talk to me on the phone all day long and you can have my cell number.
Together we will work out any bugs if you notice any and if all goes well
you will have your custom application ready and working very quickly. Once
you believe the custom application or code is ready and I have been paid I
will send you the ASP source code and you can then start using it.
Many times I will have a customer that wants one of my existing products,
but needs some extra features added like a particular payment processing
solution integrated into the ASP code. Since they can't do this themselves
it is well worth them paying me to do it. Modifying one of my existing
apps into something custom is a great way to go as we save a lot of
development time by starting with something. You are of course still
bound to the license agreement of the existing product in this scenario.
I also have some conditions you must understand and agree to..
I am not a web graphic artist: I write highly functional ASP
applications however, I am not a web page designer. I will write code
where you can easily include your own headers and footers to make it
match your site, but customizing the code further to match your site is
up to you. Graphic design is simply not a talent I advertise. I can make
great looking web sites and graphics for myself, but it honestly takes
me forever so you don't want to pay me for that kind of work unless you
have a lot of money to waste.
Communication
is key: If we send emails back & forth it can not take you 2 days to
respond to each one. I have a dedicated line and check & send email
many times each day. You
must have some knowledge: I am not your system admin. You need to have
a good understanding of ASP and be able to install a basic ASP/Database
application on your server without me holding your hand the entire way. I
want to write quality code for you and make some money in the process, not
teach you how to use your server and be your tech support for life. If you
need something designed using SQL I'll expect you to have some experience
using SQL server. If the code is going to be using some 3rd party
components installation of them on your server is your responsibility as
well. I am not saying I will not be very helpful because I will, but I am
saying very honestly that I will not waste my time dealing with idiots.
You don't have to be an ASP genius, but you do need some common sense and
everything will go along smoothly.
I want in and out: Meaning I write you some great code, we
troubleshoot it a bit, I get paid, you use the code, and everyone is
happy. If any major bugs come up later I will of course try to fix them,
however my time isn't always going to be free. You will find that I am
quite fair and reasonable for the kind of work I am doing. I will also
tell you the deal straight up if anything is going to cost you.
